About this listen

Exploring the complexities of race relations in modern times, Jodi Picoult challenges us with ideas about justice, empathy and free will. Written with a raw honesty, this audiobook delves into deeply emotional issues about birth and death with an emotional fix that will stay with you long after the last words are spoken.

The new audiobook from number one best-selling author Jodi Picoult, with the biggest of themes: birth, death, and responsibility.

When a newborn baby dies after a routine hospital procedure, there is no doubt about who will be held responsible: the nurse who had been banned from looking after him by his father. What the nurse, her lawyer and the father of the child cannot know is how this death will irrevocably change all of their lives, in ways both expected and not.

Small Great Things is about prejudice and power; it is about that which divides and unites us. It is about opening your eyes.

I could not put this one down!

The characters as always by Jodi, are spot on! But the narrators in this story!! Wow! Normally there is always one I cringed at in some books, but not in this one. It truly make “small Great Things” come to life!

I really enjoyed listening to this story, gave great food for thought & a novel I will encourage my children to listen to.
Overall great narration too, enabled me to switch to the different characters with ease. I did however find that when Ruth was speaking it her swallowing, licking of lips, deep breaths were far more audible than the other narrators which made it slightly off putting; but at times enhanced the storytelling because I felt like she was in the room!

This is my first Picoult and it won't be my last. A powerful story that keeps you gripped and a twist that makes you readjust how you see the world. I don't want to spoil the story by providing a synopsis. If you are a Picoult fan, you probably know what to expect. If you are not, you don't know what you are missing. This is an essential work and needs to be read by as many as is possible. It could be responsible for changing the way we see things and that surely is a small great thing. Highly recommended
