Just what we needed for two children struggling to sleep, Roger Allam's voice is perfect for Shirley Hughes' words.

These stories are so beautifully crafted, everyday scenarios that children experience, written with such care and attention.

I loved them as a child (can you tell?!) and now it's wonderful to share the audiobook with my own children.

The only thing I wish is that children's book were a bit cheaper on audible, so that more people could access them.

Shirley Hughes' Alfie stories are classics. Great to get a good number of them included in one collection rather than individual audiobooks. Narrator is nothing special but fine. Perfect for car journeys, or while sitting at the table doing crafts or colouring.
