About this listen

Bast knows how to bargain. The give-and-take of a negotiation is as familiar to him as the in-and-out of breathing; to watch him trade is to watch an artist at work. But even a master's brush can slip. When he accepts a gift, taking something for nothing, Bast's whole world is knocked askew, for he knows how to bargain - but not how to owe.

From dawn to midnight over the course of a single day, follow the Kingkiller Chronicle's most charming fae as he schemes and sneaks, dancing into trouble and back out again with uncanny grace.

The Narrow Road Between Desires is Bast's story. In it he traces the old ways of making and breaking, following his heart even when doing so goes against his better judgement.

After all, what good is caution if it keeps him from danger and delight?

Always a pleasure and a wonderful listen. Escape to the world this series of books provides. The words are like leaves floating in a gentle stream, you can't keep your eyes off the leaves as they go by.

Smashed it again Rothfuss! Loved the characters and the usual layers upon layers, I’ll be waiting patiently for whatever comes next!

The story is a touching slice of life, centered around the charismatic Bast and his various machinations in the sleepy village of nowhere.

Rupert performance is Stella as always, it's bitter sweet and touching, beautifully written, but for all that it's not new.

COME ON PAT... let it out the kettle its been stewing long enough....

Where's book 3...

this only made me hunger more for it, naturally well need to wait for Sanderson to be drafted in to finish. I pray I live long enough to see its conclusion.

This was great but...

A little insight into a loveable magical creature who if you know Patrick’s work you know you want to know more about. The only down side of this book is that it makes you crave more, Thankyou

What will you give me for this?

Outstandingly fun tale. Loved hearing more about Bast. Quick hit before the final book comes out.

exceptional

The writing is so delicious that I find myself wanting to squirrel away phrases - 'the hinge of the day' etc. Bast is a roguish heartfelt delight and it feels so indulgent to dip back into the Rothfuss' magic. The author's note at the end when he is writing to his boys made me cry. Beautiful all round.

A perfect fairy tale

I really enjoyed this, was certainly different and twisty but I'd like the 3rd part of "the name of the wind" trilogy to be released sometime before I expire.

brilliant writing

Another beautiful book, obviously much shorter than the two main KKC’s so far. A great insight into Bast outside of what we’ve already learned about him whilst listening to Kvothe tell his awesome story. Bast has a good heart ❤️

Well done, Pat 👏🏼
